Basketball Recap: Owen Bailey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Southeast of Saline over Beloit

Southeast of Saline was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took an 81-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Beloit Trojans. Southeast of Saline was not able to make up for their loss to Beloit from their previous meeting back in March.

Southeast of Saline lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Owen Bailey, who went 8 of 19 on his way to 21 points. That's the most points Bailey has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Gannon Jacobson, who posted 18 points.

Beloit's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Eli Johnson, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 boards. Johnson has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jackson Cheney, who had 18 points in addition to six assists and five boards.

Southeast of Saline's record now sits at 0-3. As for Beloit, they pushed their record up to 1-2 with the win, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Southeast of Saline will head out to face off against Hillsboro at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Beloit, they will host Republic County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
