Football Game Preview: Bastrop Rams vs. Green Oaks Giants

The Bastrop Rams will face off against the Green Oaks Giants at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are out to turn their luck around after having lost tight contests in their previous games.

While Bastrop is heading in to the matchup without a win, things might be looking up considering their last contest was the closest they've come to getting one. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 32-30 heartbreaker at the hands of General Trass. On the bright side, the 30- point performance marked the Rams' highest-scoring game to date.

Meanwhile, Green Oaks didn't have quite enough to beat D'Arbonne Woods on Friday and fell 44-42. The loss continues a trend for the Giants in their meetings with D'Arbonne Woods: they've now lost four in a row.

Despite the defeat, Green Oaks saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Javontaye Dean rushed for 95 yards and four TDs, and also threw for 128 yards and one touchdown on only eight passes.

Green Oaks' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Bastrop, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for Bastrop against Green Oaks in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 41-12 victory. In that contest, the Rams amassed a halftime lead of 29-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
