Baseball Game Preview: Lowndes Academy Rebels vs. Coosa Valley Academy Rebels

Lowndes Academy will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Coosa Valley Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Lowndes Academy is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Lakeside School just ended the team's seven-game winning streak dating back to last season on Friday. They came up short against the Chiefs, falling 11-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Rebels' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Coosa Valley Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 13-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bessemer Academy.

Jay Chapman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Coosa Valley Academy is 4-1 when Chapman posts two or more runs, but 0-9 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Brett Hackett, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Coosa Valley Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Lowndes Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Everything went Lowndes Academy's way against Coosa Valley Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2023, as Lowndes Academy made off with a 10-0 win. Will Lowndes Academy repeat their success, or does Coosa Valley Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
