Football Game Preview: Lake Forest Spartans vs. Woodbridge Raiders

The Lake Forest Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Woodbridge Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lake Forest has eight straight wins, Woodbridge has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lake Forest is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Delaware's top teams: Laurel, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Lake Forest was ranked seventh). The Spartans blew past the Bulldogs 28-7 on Friday. Considering the Spartans have won seven matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Andrew White had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 188 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per carry. Those 188 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Demarion Russ was another key back, rushing for 112 yards and one TD on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lake Forest was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 349 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 206 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Meanwhile, Woodbridge scored the most points they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They took a 20-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of Delmar.

Lake Forest's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Woodbridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Lake Forest came out on top in a nail-biter against Woodbridge when the teams last played back in October of 2024, sneaking past 16-14. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
