Baseball Game Preview: Monticello Buckaroo vs. Dolores Bears

The Monticello Buckaroo will take on the Dolores Bears at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Monticello's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Dolores has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Monticello lost 19-2 to Gunnison Valley on Tuesday.

Triston Felix put in work no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Monticello is 6-3 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Felix was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Felix wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Keyes, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Dolores was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They came up short against Nucla, falling 12-2.

Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Dolores, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.

Monticello took their victory against Dolores when the teams last played back in March by a conclusive 8-1 score. Will the Buckaroo repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
