Baseball Game Preview: Lewis Lancers vs. Hayfield Hawks

Lewis hasn't had much luck against Hayfield recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Lancers are taking a road trip to face off against the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. Lewis has given up an average of 15.7 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lewis is headed into Thursday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 13th straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Justice, falling 12-6.

Lewis saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Moore, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Another was Reynaldo Linares, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Hayfield waltzed into their game on Monday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Majors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Hawks have posted since April 16th.

Ethan Tourne was excellent, earning two runs and three stolen bases. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Archer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

Hayfield's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Lewis, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Lewis suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to Hayfield when the teams last played back in April. Can the Lancers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
