Baseball Game Preview: Starmont Stars vs. Maquoketa Valley Wildcats

The Starmont Stars will venture away from home to challenge the Maquoketa Valley Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Starmont will be looking to extend their current 12-game winning streak.

Starmont's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over Calamus-Wheatland.

Meanwhile, Maquoketa Valley fell victim to Marquette and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Defenders.

Starmont pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Maquoketa Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Starmont skirted past Maquoketa Valley 4-2 in their previous matchup back in June of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
