Doral Academy found their leader in sophomore Amy Smith, who had three aces and two blocks. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 17 or more in each of the last 13 games she's played.
Doral Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in eight consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Winter Park faced Hagerty in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Wildcats blew past the Huskies 3-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
One reason for the win was Winter Park's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-13, 25-10.
Doral Academy better focus on containing Isabel Bertelsen and Jordyn Lehman as the pair were huge in Winter Park's win. Bertelsen had 11 digs and eight assists, while Lehman had nine digs and two assists. That's the most assists Lehman has posted over her last six contests.
Doral Academy's record now sits at 16-13. As for Winter Park, their record is now 29-1.
