Basketball Recap: Alex Cornejo Key Part of Team Effort in Titans Win

Coal Ridge saw some tournament action on Saturday. They blew past the DSST: Montview Knights 46-24. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Coal Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alex Cornejo, who posted nine points along with five assists and three blocks. Cornejo is crushing it when it comes to blocks: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Christopher Harvey, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 13 points.

Coal Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Coal Ridge now has a winning record of 2-1. As for DSST: Montview, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coal Ridge will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Battle Mountain at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for DSST: Montview, they will challenge Holy Family at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
