King George is 9-1 against Eastern View since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Foxes will look to defend their home field against the Cyclones at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
King George took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Courtland a 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Foxes in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.
The team relied heavily on Paige Headley, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Natalie Spillman was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
King George always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Eastern View's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Chancellor. The Cyclones might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by eight runs or more this season.
Ashlynn Settle made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Settle was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.
In other batting news, Eastern View got a massive performance out of Sara Hopper, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Addison Fick, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
The victory got King George back to even at 3-3. As for Eastern View, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. King George hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Eastern View struggles in that department as they've averaged .448. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
King George beat Eastern View 5-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Do the Foxes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cyclones turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
