Recap: South Pontotoc Cougars vs. Baldwyn Bearcats
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lafayette, the South Pontotoc Cougars were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They took down Baldwyn 43-29. Given South Pontotoc's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Baldwyn is ranked 172nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the defeat, Baldwyn saw an underclassman step up: Ayriah Warren scored 9 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lamiyia Bonds, who scored 6 points.
South Pontotoc's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Baldwyn, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Pontotoc will take on Byhalia at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Byhalia is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Baldwyn, they will be playing at home against North Pontotoc at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
