Basketball Recap: South Central Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

South Central saw some tournament action on Friday. They rang in the new year with a 50-42 victory over the Elkhart Christian Academy Eagles.

South Central can attribute much of their success to Clayten Strauch, who went 6 for 7 on his way to 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Grass, who posted seven points.

South Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive board total in three consecutive matches.

South Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Central will venture away from home to take on Culver Community at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Central is facing Culver Community at the right time seeing as Culver Community is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Elkhart Christian Academy, they will head out to square off against Bethany Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
