Sandia dropped their record down to 18-4 on Monday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Eldorado Golden Eagles by a score of 8-7. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Golden Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 back in March.

As for Eldorado, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games.

For Eldorado's part, Jace Sanchez-Reynolds looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brody Hoffman, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sullivan Wilson, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

While Sandia had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
