Softball Recap: Amory Takes a Loss

If Amory was riding high fresh off their 16-7 takedown of Smithville on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell 5-2 to the Nettleton Tigers on Saturday. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in April of 2025.

Amory saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Snyder, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Samone Burdine also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Amory's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Nettleton, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0-1.

Coming up, Amory will challenge Tupelo at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Wave have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Nettleton, they will head out on the road to take on West Point at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Green Wave have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.2 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
