Southwest Florida Christian was the clear victors by a 19-1 margin over Everglades City on Thursday. The match marked the King's most dominant win of the season so far.
Natalie Recker made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. In other batting news, Southwest Florida Christian got a massive performance out of Candice Chime, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave Chime a new career-high in RBI. Adrianna Thorne was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.
Southwest Florida Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .707. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 19 runs the game before, Community School of Naples was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They came up short against Mason Classical Academy, falling 13-1. The Seahawks' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Community School of Naples saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luci Bullock, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3. Jade Reachani also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Southwest Florida Christian's record is now 4-5. As for Community School of Naples, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Southwest Florida Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Community School of Naples struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Southwest Florida Christian's way against Community School of Naples in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Southwest Florida Christian made off with a 16-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southwest Florida Christian since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
