Basketball Recap: Powell County Takes a Loss

Powell County lost against Florence-Carlton back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Powell County Wardens had to suffer through a 71-42 loss at the hands of the Florence-Carlton Falcons. The Wardens were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-17.

Despite the loss, Powell County still got an impressive performance from Gideon Rubink, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Collin Spears was another key player, putting up seven points.

Powell County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Florence-Carlton, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Powell County has already played their next matchup, a 49-31 win against Darby on the 8th. As for Florence-Carlton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 74-62 victory against Arlee on the 8th.
