Basketball Recap: Rolla Starts Season with Loss at Home

Rolla unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 70-38 loss at the hands of the Deerfield Spartans. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it seven in a row.

Leading Deerfield to victory were Cristian Botello and Colten Musil. Botello shot 78% from the field en route to 16 points along with eight rebounds and five assists, while Musil went 8-for-18 on his way to 19 points and three steals. Those 78% field goal percentage gave Botello a new career-high. Michael Lira was another key player, putting up three points and six boards.

Rolla wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-34 loss against Walsh on the 5th. As for Deerfield, they have also already played their next matchup, a 48-47 win against Hodgeman County on the 5th.
