Recap: St. Francis Spartans vs. Rochelle Hubs

The St. Francis Spartans had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.6 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rochelle 45-14 at home. Given St. Francis' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Rochelle is ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Alessio Milivojevic was his usual excellent self, throwing for 308 yards and five touchdowns while completing 80.8% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Ian Willis, who picked up 62 receiving yards and three touchdowns.

St. Francis' win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-2. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 8-2 IC Catholic Prep and 7-3 Joliet Catholic (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.5% over those games). As for Rochelle, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.

St. Francis will head out on the road to face off against Sterling at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rochelle does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
