Taylor County is 9-1 against Adair County since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Taylor County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Adair County's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Taylor County let Meade County stack six runs on them in the second inning on Tuesday but luckily Taylor County prevailed anyway. The Cardinals came out on top in a nail-biter against the Green Waves, sneaking past 9-8.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Adair County). They put the hurt on Metcalfe County with a sharp 16-1 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won four in a row.
Jade Waggner was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Gracie Gist was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Keylin Bergin, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Adair County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Metcalfe County only posted a batting average of .286.
Taylor County has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Adair County, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Everything went Taylor County's way against Adair County in their previous matchup back in April, as Taylor County made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
