Baseball Recap: San Domenico Comes Up Short

San Domenico extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-10 in the process. They lost 12-1 to the Stuart Hall Knights. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 on Monday.

San Domenico saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliver Bennett, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

As for Stuart Hall, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Considering they have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Stuart Hall's side, Ryder Anderson made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. Anderson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Stuart Hall got a massive performance out of Alex Heinicke, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Heinicke has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was William Malko, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. San Domenico will take on Marin Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.17 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Stuart Hall, they will square off against Lick-Wilmerding at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
