Baseball Recap: Marquez Gets the Win

After losing to Fremont the last time they met, Marquez decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Gladiators walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Pathfinders on Monday. With that win, the Gladiators brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Marquez let Gustavo Aguirre and Jaime Hernandez run wild. Aguirre got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI, while Hernandez went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one stolen base. Those two RBI gave Aguirre a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Gutierrez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Marquez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Marquez back to even at 5-5. As for Fremont, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-5.

Marquez wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 6-5 loss against Bravo on the 31st. As for Fremont, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 8-1 win against Mendez on the 31st.
