Basketball Game Preview: Yulee Hornets vs. Hilliard Red Flashes

Yulee is 2-8 against Hilliard since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Yulee Hornets will look to defend their home court against the Hilliard Red Flashes at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Wednesday, Yulee was able to grind out a solid victory over Ridgeview, taking the game 61-48. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Panthers are ranked 698th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Hilliard unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of Fernandina Beach by a score of 60-58.

Yulee will have to contain Cj Hall as he made an impact in Hilliard's last game. He went 8 for 10 on his way to 27 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. Hall's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was King McMillan, who posted eight points.

Yulee has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Hilliard, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
