Volleyball Game Preview: Western Wayne Wildcats vs. Lakeland Chiefs

The Western Wayne Wildcats will challenge the Lakeland Chiefs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Western Wayne came up short against Holy Redeemer on Friday, falling 3-0. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Royals recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

While Western Wayne was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-22, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Lakeland didn't have quite enough to beat Valley View on Monday and fell 3-2. While the Chiefs didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 25-13 in the first set.

Lakeland took Valley View into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The final score came out to 13-25, 25-12, 25-15, 25-27, 15-7.

Western Wayne's defeat dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Western Wayne took their victory against Lakeland when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Chiefs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
