No sophomore slumps here as repeat Class of 2015 POY Malik Newman headlines team.

Highlighted by National Sophomore of the Year Malik Newman of Callaway (Jackson, Miss.), MaxPreps presents the 2012-13 Boys Basketball Sophomore All-American Team.

Selections are based on team success, statistics and local, regional and state honors from the recently completed season. Potential at the college or professional level is not a primary consideration. Players in post-graduate programs are not eligible for inclusion.

FIRST TEAM

Jalen Brunson, Stevenson (Lincolnshire, Ill.)
6-0 | 160 | Guard

Averaged 21.5 points and 3.7 assists per game to lead Patriots to Class 4A state title game against MaxPreps National Player of the Year Jabari Parker and Simeon (Chicago).



NATIONAL SOPHOMORE OF THE YEAR
Malik Newman, Callaway (Jackson, Miss.)
6-2 | 175 | Guard

Last year's freshman POY was at it again as a sophomore, tallying 23 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while leading Chargers to Class 5A state title.

Ivan Rabb, Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, Calif.)
6-9 | 220 | Forward

MaxPreps Division III first team All-State pick posted more than 22 points and 13 rebounds per game, helping O'Dowd go 26-4 and capture North Coast Section title.

Diamond Stone, Dominican (Whitefish Bay, Wis.)
6-9 | 250 | Center

Already a two-time state champ, put up 16.9 points and 11.6 rebounds per game while reportedly connecting on 77 percent of his field goal attempts.

Stephen Zimmerman, Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas)
6-10 | 210 | Center

First team All-State pick contributed 13.3 points and 11.5 rebounds per game for Division I state champions.

SECOND TEAM

KeVaughn Allen, North Little Rock (Ark.)
6-3 | 170 | Guard

Leading scorer for nationally ranked Class 7A state champs, averaging 18.6 points, 7 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.



Isaiah Briscoe, St. Benedict's Prep (Newark, N.J.)
6-3 | 190 | Guard

Key cog for 32-2 Gray Bees squad that reached final of National High School Invitational.

Marcus Derrickson, Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.)
6-6 | 230 | Forward-Center

Burly big man earned Washington Post first team All-Met honors after averaging 12.8 points and 9.3 rebounds per game against challenging schedule.

Alex Illikainen, Grand Rapids (Minn.)
6-9 | 210 | Forward

Impressive season stat line included averages of 27.2 points and 14.7 rebounds per game in leading Grand Rapids to 20-win season.

Luke Kennard, Franklin (Ohio)
6-5 | 180 | Guard

Dazzled at Beach Ball Classic in December and went on to average 27.9 points per game while earning Ohio Division II POY honors.

THIRD TEAM

Jalen Coleman, Indianapolis Cathedral
6-3 | 165 | Guard

Earned Associated Press honorable mention All-State attention after helping Cathedral reach Class 4A championship game.



Eric Davis, Arthur Hill (Saginaw, Mich.)
6-3 | 160 | Guard

Associated Press first team All-State Class A pick looks to be next in long line of talented prospects from Saginaw.

Tyler Dorsey, St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.)
6-4 | 175 | Guard

Piled up 17 points, 6.1 rebounds, 4.5 steals and 2.6 steals per game for one of Southern California's top programs.

Luke Maye, Hough (Cornelius, N.C.)
6-7 | 220 | Forward

Was fourth-leading vote-getter for Associated Press All-State honors in North Carolina after posting averages of 18.9 points, 13.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

Malachi Richardson, Roselle Catholic (N.J.)
6-6 | 195 | Guard

Big perimeter prospect put up 15.1 points per game to help Roselle Catholic capture Garden State's Tournament of Champions crown.

Averaged 15.6 points and 5.1 assists per game for Huskies, who spent part of season in national rankings.

Jaylen Brown, Wheeler (Marietta, Ga.)
6-4 | 185 | Guard

Lineage of Champions Class AAAAAA Sophomore of the Year is part of promising youth movement at Wheeler that also includes 6-10 classmate Daniel Giddens.

Thomas Bryant, Bishop Kearney (Rochester, N.Y.)
6-8 | 195 | Forward

Teamed with 6-10 Gods Power Ogide and 6-9 Chinonso Obokoh (headed to Syracuse) to give Kings massive frontline; averaged 13.1 points, 9.7 rebounds and 2.9 blocked shots per game.

Native of Mali is just scratching surface, averaging 17 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots per game this season.

Davon Dillard, Bowman Academy (Gary, Ind.)

Pumped in more than 21 points per game and joined senior star Corn Elder in the backcourt to lead Ensworth to state title.

Will Jackson, Athens Christian (Ga.)

Class A first team All-State player recorded 25.6 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game.

Reginal Johnson, Richwood (Monroe, La.)

"Monsta" will be an interesting one to follow as undersized power player put up more than 26 points and 14 rebounds per game en route to 3A POY honors and state title.

Derrick Jones, Archbishop Carroll (Radnor, Pa.)
6-6 | 175 | Guard-Forward

All-State honoree led Class AAA runner-up in scoring at 14.1 points per game.

Chad Lott, Byrd (Shreveport, La.)
6-3 | 175 | Guard

All-State selection and Shreveport All-City POY recorded more than 25 points and eight rebounds per game.



King McClure, Triple A Academy (Dallas)
6-3 | 185 | Guard

Leader of a dominant small school outfit in Texas tallied 21.3 points, 6 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.9 steals per game.

Elijah Thomas, Prime Prep (Dallas)
