Football Recap: Belleville West Starts Season with Victory Against Mascoutah + How To Watch

Belleville West took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They took down the Mascoutah Indians 40-21. The Maroons have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians, too.

When it comes to explaining why Mascoutah lost, don't look at Sean Murphy. Despite the final result, he rushed for 168 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Murphy's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 112 rushing yards dating back to last season. Jack Hilgendorf was another key player, throwing for 187 yards and one TD.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Belleville West will welcome Fort Zumwalt West at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mascoutah, they will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Sacred Heart-Griffin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
