Basketball Recap: Arrupe Jesuit Skates Past Platte Canyon with Ease

While Arrupe Jesuit didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They claimed a resounding 78-46 victory over the Platte Canyon Huskies. The Generals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Louie Garcia was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 12 on his way to 24 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Manuel Loya, who went 7 for 17 en route to 18 points.

Arrupe Jesuit was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now racked up at least 20 assists in three consecutive games.

Despite the defeat, Platte Canyon saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jack Walsh posted 11 points. The dominant performance gave Walsh a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Tanner, who earned six points and nine boards.

Arrupe Jesuit's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.4 points per game. As for Platte Canyon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-4.

Arrupe Jesuit has already played their next contest, a 71-34 victory against Sheridan on the 16th. As for Platte Canyon, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-54 loss against Lake County on the 15th.
