Baseball Recap: Nacogdoches Comes Up Short

After flying high against Jacksonville on Friday, Nacogdoches came back down to earth. The Nacogdoches Dragons fell 10-5 to the Lufkin Panthers on Saturday. The defeat continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Nacogdoches saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Josh Morones, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Nacogdoches' loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Lufkin, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 10-5.

Nacogdoches and Lufkin could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Nacogdoches will take on Whitehouse at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 605 places (819 vs. 214). Meanwhile, Lufkin (ranked 174th) will meet Hallsville (ranked 29th) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
