Softball Recap: Madison East Comes Up Short

Madison East extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They lost 24-0 to the Vel Phillips Memorial Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-8 back in April.

As for Vel Phillips Memorial, they now have a winning record of 10-9. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Vel Phillips Memorial's part, the team relied heavily on Addie Fritts, who went 4-for-3 with four runs, three doubles, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Fritts a new career-high. Tricia Balice was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Madison East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Vel Phillips Memorial, they will take on Janesville Craig at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
