Baseball Recap: Oakdale Gets the Win

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Oakdale nor Patterson made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Tigers.

Oakdale saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Velazquez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Velazquez is becoming a predictor of the Mustangs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't).

Oakdale's victory bumped their record up to 12-8. As for Patterson, they dropped their record down to 8-9 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Tigers beat Oakdale by a score of 3-1 on Wednesday.
