Baseball Recap: Gaffney Comes Up Short

If Gaffney was riding high fresh off their 12-2 takedown of James F. Byrnes last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Gaffney came up short against James F. Byrnes on Friday, falling 16-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Gaffney saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braden Beattie, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Sam Carroll was another, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Gaffney has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. James F. Byrnes is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Gaffney will challenge Eastside at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for James F. Byrnes, they will take on Boiling Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. James F. Byrnes is facing Boiling Springs at the right time seeing as Boiling Springs is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
