Softball Preview: Alcoa Tornadoes vs. Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders

Alcoa is 8-1 against Gatlinburg-Pittman since May of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Alcoa Tornadoes will be playing in front of their home fans against the Gatlinburg-Pittman Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. Alcoa is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games.

On Tuesday, Alcoa sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Grace Christian Academy.

Lily Marsh tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits while striking out six over 5.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, Adrianna King was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, a triple, and an RBI. Olivia Emert was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Gatlinburg-Pittman was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They wound up on the wrong side of a tough 7-1 walloping at the hands of Eagleton College & Career Academy. Gatlinburg-Pittman's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Alcoa has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for Gatlinburg-Pittman, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.
