Softball Recap: Mount Union Victorious

Mount Union's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Black Knights/Damsels recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Ke' Andra Wible made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. Those RBI were her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Williams, who went 3-for-4 with five runs, three doubles, and one stolen base. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Sydnee Harris was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Mount Union was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Moshannon Valley only posted a batting average of .273.

Mount Union's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-6. As for Moshannon Valley, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Mount Union didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 16-1 win against Glendale on the 10th. As for Moshannon Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 11-1 loss against Northern Cambria on the 10th.
