Baseball Game Preview: Castaic Coyotes vs. Vasquez Mustangs

Castaic is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Vasquez is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Coyotes will welcome the Mustangs at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Castaic had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Fillmore on Saturday. The Coyotes were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Flashes.

Castaic got a great performance from Matthew Gonzalez as he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, Gonzalez posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Fava, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Aiden Arroyo, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Castaic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fillmore only posted a batting average of .217.

Meanwhile, Vasquez was not the first on the board on Friday, but they got there more often. They blew past Valley Torah 10-3.

The win got Vasquez back to even at 8-8-1. As for Castaic, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.
