Preview: Maine East Blue Demons vs. Wheeling Wildcats

After two games on the road, Maine East is heading back home. They will take on the Wheeling Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Maine East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight last Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, Maine East didn't have too much trouble with Niles North on the road as they won 45-31.

Maine East found their leader in underclassman Arabella Silva, who scored 24 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. That makes it ten consecutive games in which Silva has scored at least a third of Maine East's points. Maria Gonzalez was another key contributor, scoring six points.

Meanwhile, Wheeling's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Highland Park by a score of 49-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Wheeling has suffered yet this season.

Maine East's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-9. As for Wheeling, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.

Maine East skirted past Wheeling 38-35 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Does Maine East have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wheeling turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
