Softball Recap: Columbia City's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Columbia City extended their postseason success on Tuesday against Glenn. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over the Falcons. Winning may never get old, but the Eagles sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Emma Hiss spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Columbia City let Mylie Ward and Hanna Maggard run wild. Ward got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Maggard got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs. That's the most runs Maggard has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Lacie Friend, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Columbia City's win bumped their record up to 19-5. As for Glenn, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 14-13.

Looking ahead, Columbia City will square off against Hanover Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. Glenn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
