Softball Game Preview: Columbia Wildcats vs. D'Iberville Warriors

The Columbia Wildcats are taking a road trip to square off against the D'Iberville Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Columbia knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully D'Iberville likes a good challenge.

It was a proper cat-fight when Columbia took on Southeast Lauderdale on Saturday. The Wildcats walked away with a 10-5 win over the Tigers. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for D'Iberville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over St. Patrick on Saturday. Considering the Warriors have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Redding was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Piper Rushing was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Olivia Drieling, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

D'Iberville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive contests.

The win got D'Iberville back to even at 11-11. As for Columbia, their record is now 13-10.
