Baseball Recap: Geneva Takes a Loss

Geneva easily dispatched Conneaut on Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Eagles fell just short of the St. John Fighting Herald by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 10-9 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Andrew Oros was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He has become a key player for Geneva: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-9 otherwise.

Geneva's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-10. As for St. John, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Geneva will head out to challenge Grand Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for St. John, they will venture away from home to take on Kirtland at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Fighting Herald's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
