Baseball Recap: Delta's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Six

Delta waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Aspen Skiers as they made off with an 11-4 win. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Landon Kennell and Ty Reed made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Kennell tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Reed struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. At bat, Kennell scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Reed scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Reed is becoming a predictor of Delta's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jhett Ryan, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. He has become a key player for Delta: the team is 9-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Deacon Shean, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Delta was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Delta pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Aspen, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Delta beat the Skiers by a score of 15-0 later that day.
