Softball Recap: Angleton's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

Angleton fell victim to La Porte and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 8-4.

Bella Nava was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

The loss snapped Angleton's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 13-3 record. As for La Porte, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Angleton is set to face off against their familiar foe Friendswood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 1.9, the Mustangs 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, La Porte will take on rival Ball at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Bulldogs' favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while the Tornadoes have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
