The Hubbard Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the Perry Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hubbard is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Hubbard is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They skirted past Coventry 11-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since May 13, 2025.
Haleigh Taylor made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed eight innings while giving up five earned (and five unearned) runs off 11 hits. Taylor was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one run and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Hubbard let Morgan Thompson and Layla Songer run wild. Thompson went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double, while Songer went 3-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles Songer has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Cara Green, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.
Hubbard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .538. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Perry, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Firelands on Tuesday. Considering the Pirates have won 15 matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Sophie Sivon made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Sivon was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Arianna Rogers was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Morgan Winters was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
Hubbard's record is now 13-10. As for Perry, their record now sits at 22-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Hubbard hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Perry struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
