Preview: Salome Frogs vs. River Valley Dust Devils
Two dominant guards in Jibran Castillo and Gabriel Short are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Salome Frogs will head out on the road to challenge the River Valley Dust Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
After a string of four wins, Salome's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They received a tough blow as they fell 69-51 to Antelope.
The losing side was boosted by Castillo, who scored 24 points. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Jovany Calderon was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, River Valley's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Kingman by a score of 53-51. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for River Valley in their matchups with Kingman: they've now lost three in a row.
Salome's loss dropped their record down to 15-8. As for River Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-12.
Everything came up roses for Salome against River Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 68-32 win. With Salome ahead 40-16 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
