Baseball Recap: Purcell Marian Has No Trouble Against Seven Hills

Purcell Marian waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Seven Hills Stingers a 7-0 shutout. That seven run margin sets a new team best for the Cavaliers this season.

The result came thanks to Ronan Ribar's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sonny Ward, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zavier Wright, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Purcell Marian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Seven Hills, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
