Softball Game Preview: Elton Indians vs. South Cameron Tarpons

The Elton Indians will square off against the South Cameron Tarpons at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Elton fell victim to Crowley and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Gent. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, South Cameron won against Hathaway on Monday with 19 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Tarpons never let Johnson Bayou get on the board and left with a 19-0 win. The Tarpons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

BreAnn Morales made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, South Cameron got a massive performance out of Peyton Conner, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Claire Baccigalopi, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

South Cameron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .828. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

The victory made it two in a row for South Cameron and bumps their season record up to 6-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Elton, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.
