Menlo School came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.7 goals) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pinewood Panthers, sneaking past 2-1. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Panthers are ranked 1151st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kieran Vazquez and Blake Putanec scored both of Menlo School's goals, bringing their combined season tally to seven goals.

Menlo School has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2-2 record this season. As for Pinewood, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 0-11.

Menlo School will welcome King's Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Pinewood, they will challenge Sacred Heart Prep at 3:30 p.m. on January 31st.
