Preview: Hardaway Hawks vs. McIntosh Chiefs

The Hardaway Hawks and the McIntosh Chiefs will face off at 12:30 p.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Even though Shaw scored an imposing 59 points on Thursday, Hardaway still came out on top. Hardaway walked away with a 69-59 victory over Shaw.

Hardaway had a senior duo take command as Lamell Mims dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds and Mekhi Benton scored 19 points along with three steals. The matchup was Benton's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Dortch, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.

Meanwhile, McIntosh had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They skirted past Oxford 44-42. The win was all the more spectacular given McIntosh's disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 286th in Georgia, while Oxford is ranked 98th in Alabama).

Hardaway is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for McIntosh, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.

Hardaway was dealt a bruising 69-36 defeat at the hands of McIntosh in their previous meeting back in November of 2014. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hardaway was down 41-15.
