Softball Recap: Thomaston Has No Trouble Against Housatonic

While Thomaston put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Housatonic. The Bears were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Mountaineers. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Mountaineers: they've now won eight in a row.

Sloan Walmsley and Madison Decker made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Walmsley struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Decker didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At bat, Walmsley got on base in three of her six plate appearances with two runs and two RBI, while Decker went 1-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Thomaston got a massive performance out of Jackie Phillips, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three runs and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addison Patchell, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Thomaston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .540. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .526 or higher in three consecutive games.

Thomaston's record is now 5-1. As for Housatonic, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
