Basketball Recap: Sean Alicea Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Kell

The Meadowcreek Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 62-60 win over the Kell Longhorns on Saturday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Meadowcreek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sean Alicea, who posted 15 points. Alicea is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Phifer, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Meadowcreek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meadowcreek's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Kell, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Meadowcreek will head out on the road to square off against Norcross at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will be up against the Blue Devils' rather soft defense (which has allowed 68.5 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Kell, they will take on Peachtree Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
