Softball Game Preview: White County Central Bears vs. Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds

The White County Central Bears will head out on the road to take on the Sloan-Hendrix Greyhounds at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Thursday, White County Central didn't have quite enough to beat Concord and fell 6-5. The defeat continues a trend for the Bears in their meetings with the Pirates: they've now lost three in a row.

Haylee Smith made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Allie Schmidt was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Sloan-Hendrix can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Thursday. They blew past Bay 17-0.

Lauren Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, she didn't allow a single earned run, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Five bases. while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Kayla Matheny was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylee Bennett, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

White County Central took their win against Sloan-Hendrix in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-6. Does White County Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Sloan-Hendrix turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
