Basketball Recap: Belfry Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Jaxon Estridge and Brody Little

Belfry lost against Cabell Midland back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Belfry Pirates took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cabell Midland Knights. The contest marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Belfry's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brody Little, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards, and Jaxon Estridge, who posted 22 points. Those 11 rebounds gave Little a new career-high.

Ethan Blackburn continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Cabell Midland, putting up 17 points and five boards. Samuel Phillips was another key player, scoring ten points.

Belfry's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Cabell Midland, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

When Belfry and Cabell Midland next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Belfry will try to stop Pike County Central's seven-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Belfry is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.1 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Cabell Midland will take on George Washington and their eight-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
