Softball Recap: Willowbrook Comes Up Short

Willowbrook had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 15-14 to make it four. They fell 14-11 to the Leyden Eagles. Warriors fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Eagles since on Friday.

Gianna Dugo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Allison Coppersmith was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

As for Leyden, their victory bumped their record up to 12-15. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their one-run performance the match before.

On Leyden's side, Gianna Olan was incredible, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI Olan has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brianna Martinez, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Willowbrook does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Leyden, they will challenge Proviso East at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
